Sam F.’s Ducky is in The Netherlands!

I rode on a plane from Milan to The Netherlands! The sun goes down very early in Europe now so I did not see anything out the window, I just slept on the plane in Christina’s pocket. She put her gloves in there and made a comfortable โ€œnestโ€ for me. The next morning I woke up in The Hague!

What a beautiful view by the Binnenhof!

The Hague is the capital of the province of South Holland, and with 515,880 inhabitants the third largest municipality in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The Hague is popular for its 11 km coastline.

I spent several days in The Hague, but my favorite place was the M.C. Escher Museum!

He was a graphic artist who creates interesting illusions and tessellations with wood-cutting and lithographs.

Here are my favorite pieces of art!

See how the white birds show the sun and the blue ones show the moon?
This one is called the Eight Heads. There are 8 different people in a repeating pattern. Can you find them all?
Wow!
Fish and birds! They look like flying ducks!
The designs were so fascinating!

M.C. Escher also made interesting artwork with perspectives! Sometimes you have to look closely before you understand what you’re seeing!

M.C. Escher held up a sphere and showed himself! This is not a photo, he created this by hand!
See how he merged a normal drawing with tessellations?
I loved this museum!

I also saw some beautiful buildings around The Hague!

The Ridderzaal

The Ridderzaal (Hall of Knights) is the main building of the 13th century inner square of the former castle called Binnenhof. It is used for the state opening of Parliament on Prinsjesdag, when the Dutch monarch drives to Parliament in the Golden Coach and delivers the speech from the throne.

The Peace Palace!

The Peace Palace could not find a better home than The Hague; the City of Peace and Justice. Today the building is still used by the International Court of Justice and many countries work together to try to solve the world’s problems and help each other. It is a very important place!

Sunset at the Binnenhof

My time in The Netherlands has ended! I am now traveling to Spain! But first, I want to say thank you to Christina for giving me an amazing time in Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น and The Netherlands ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ

There she is!
Bye Christina!

Now I’m off to Spain! ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ˜
