Weekdays in Xiamen

After the exciting weekend, Kat had to focus on work and couldn’t take me as many places. It was still a very exciting week, since many normal things here are new to me! From November 4 – 8, here are a few of those things:

Parents & grandparents wait for their kids to get out of school at lunch time. All schools have long lunch breaks so students can eat and take a nap. The break is from 12:00 – 2:30. Even for high school & university students! Kat says many of her university students still take naps every day.
Kat takes Mandarin lessons. I went with her two times that week. She is reading a book about a bamboo shoot, Bangbang, who is a lot smaller than his brothers & sisters. On this page, they are bullying him. Later, he goes traveling (like me!), and makes friends by helping little animals. The animals then give him the gift of their manure so he can grow tall & strong.
